I did it!! I quit that 8-5 and became my own BOSS! God has been so good to me and my family, and I have to share it with you.

Even though tax season will always equal 16-hour days, 7 days a week; I now have my time back with my kids. No more afterschool, no more rushing from one moment to another, no more missed conferences and field trips, and best of all no more telling the littles “Sorry mommy has to work”!

This past season was such a blessing. I met so many new people in our community. In May, I was able to open at our NEW LOCATION 223 Bankhead Highway, Carrollton! I can’t wait to show you the new office and for you to see all the hard work the kids and myself put into it. Special thanks to Evelyn and her family for their much-needed help and special touches she blessed me with.

As I painted and decorated each room, I prayed that God touches each person that enters Butterfly Tax Solutions. With so much going on in the world, I wanted to create a safe and happy environment for you to get your taxes prepared. Don’t forget to check out the special kids’ room with “chalkboard walls!” Ms. Rachael says its ok to draw on the wall :-)

As I embark on my 5th Anniversary of opening BTS, I must stop and give God praise and share some of my testimony. Wow! Five years of clocking in on my own clock. Setting my own schedule. Spending time with my kids when I want to. All this and all I had to have was a mustard seed of faith. That is really all it took.

As the covid crisis started to die down so did my marriage. Sixteen years, 14 married, and 4 kids. I thought my world had ended. It’s crazy how no one tells you that a divorce is like a death, except you mourn everything that was good and the idea of how you wanted your life to be.

I worked as an Admin Assistant making $37,000 a year. I had 5 kids, a senior in HS about to go to college, a son that tried my patience every day, my middle daughter who pushed her feelings away to help me get through mine, and my precious 6-year-old twins who looked to me for their next move. I did not have a village. I had myself and 5 little people who relied on me for everything.

I made too much money for food stamps but not enough money to buy food. I will forever be grateful to Bremen Food Bank for providing many necessities that I could not at the time. Shout out to Mandarin Express @ Arbor Place Mall Food Court for feeding me almost daily for FREE. The end of 2020 into 2021 was the worst time in my life. No need to speak on every battle…but I never gave up in prayer. I prayed when I was sad. I prayed when I had small victories. I prayed when I was mad. I prayed and sometimes I was angry with God. I expressed all my feelings to him in prayer. I prayed every morning I went to work that God change my life.

He started speaking to me and told me to “build the business.” I prayed for him to give me a name that was going to represent me, my journey, and my future. “BUTTERFLY” came to me. I researched that a butterfly goes through 4 stages before they can fly. I knew then that my name was to be Butterfly Tax Solutions. Even though at that moment I did not see me flying, I had faith that one day I would!

I built the business in silence… created my web page, Facebook, and started putting together ideas on how I wanted to be successful. I still had no idea on where I was going to be or what I was going to tell my present job. I mean how do I quit the only income I knew was steady? Questions ran through my mind… Oh God, what if I fall? What if I don’t make enough money? Where do I go next year? How do I quit a job that offers benefits? So many questions but the only answer that came to me was BE FAITHFUL!

A friend of mine secured me a place to open January 2022. With nerves on edge but faith as my protector I made the decision to quit my secured income job. That first year was successful but I needed a part time job to suffice income for the remainder of the year. I worked at O’Reilly’s in the Fall. Yessss, your girl was looking up parts for cars like I had prior experience with Nascar. I did meet some wonderful people, and I always look at every situation as a learning experience.

I was able to move to a new location in 2022 where I stayed for two years. I was driving down Newnan road one day and saw a tiny sign that said “for rent”. My divorce made my credit go to crap so in my mind I told myself I would never be able to get this. But I made the call and met with owner and him and his wife were the sweetest people. I prayed as I walked through every room asking God if this be for me, let no man be against me. And guess what?? He agreed for me to get the space.

I LOVEEEEEEE my new office. Every room I decorated reminded me how far God has brought me. I started with a one room office and now I have multiple rooms set up just like I wanted. Scriptures on the walls as reminders that God is present in every room. That question of “What if I fall” was answered with “Oh but darling, what if you fly?” And when I tell you God is flying all around BTS and he isn’t done yet. I cannot wait to see where he takes myself, my company, and all my butterflies.

For my all my butterflies that support my business…. I am so thankful for each customer that graces my door, and I pray that God continues to cover you and your family each day. Without you, this is not possible. The fact that you have a choice to go to any preparer out there, but you still choose me speaks volume and it is not unnoticed or unappreciated. Some of you have been riding with me for over 10 years and your continued support is what pushes me to be better each season. From the bottom of my Butterfly filled heart, I sincerely thank each one of you. God bless and see you next season.
